Teachers in the Child Development Center

The primary teachers in the Child Development Center are juniors and seniors that are in their second year of study in the Early Childhood Education department.

The introductory student-teachers are chosen from a large pool of applicants from the previous spring.  The accepted applicants will complete a full year of education and training before deciding to intern the next year in the preschool.  The introductory classes include Human Growth and Development, Introduction to Early Childhood Education, and Health, Safety, & Nutrition for the Young Child. Some decide that teaching is harder than they imagined and drop out; others have stronger priorities that prevent them from continuing the year; and still a few others are removed based on the criteria and standards set for the program.  The teachers pictured here are the staff that held a strong committment to the children, the program, and a job well-done!
